“72-hour Energy Forecast”

The short-term energy forecast is vital for wind and solar energy plants. According to the forecasts given by the demand side to the Day Ahead Planning system, the whole system is balanced the day ahead. For short-term demand forecasts, the method is recommended, short-term hourly demand forecasts are made and the results are assessed for Turkey to test the accuracy of the method. In consequence of these results, it is appropriate to forecast short-term power consumption with three sub-models after extensive scientific research. Inputs used in the forecasting model are actual electricity consumption, temperature and other meteorological factors, radiation (daily sunshine period) and calendar days. In this study, daily and weekly forecasts of the Turkey demand are made hourly by using Artificial Neural Networks (YSA) and Advanced Signal Processing Techniques.
